Give me a home among the Pine Trees, with lots of cocktails! Nestled in the streets of Fremantle you’ll find this tiny local bar, Nieuw Ruin. They’re all about supporting independent small-batch booze, native produce and boutique producers. Their award-winning Chef, Blaze Young, has you covered for a very fancy dining menu, whilst you take a seat and enjoy the pleasant surroundings.
Niuew Ruin have put together a stunning cocktail menu with very strong foundations (and I’m 100% referring to the alcohol content)! The majority of cocktails have a very native Australian theme, using local produce wherever possible and featuring some fun garnishes. The ‘Popcorn Pina Colada’ was like an actual party in my mouth #whatspoppin. Then the eggs benny just wasn’t cutting it, so we went for the ‘Rainforest Breakfast’ #cocktailsforbrekky. What isn’t covered with cocktails is made up with their outrageous selection of boutique and independent wines – you are bound to find something you like.
Nieuw Ruin is a place you would go to find some peace and quiet, with the crowd being quite a mature demographic. With only 2 large tables inside and a handful outside, it’s a very chill vibe with some background music – not the most exciting afternoon we’ve ever had. The service wasn’t very friendly or attentive when needing to order food and drinks. But the cocktails themselves could not be faulted and absolutely hoiked up the average here!
Everything old is Nieuw again.
