Beaufort-street-is-back-alright! And bringing the fire is one of Perth’s original small bars. After a gorgeous facelift and change of the baton, Clarences is better than ever. Bringing to you a New Orleans vibe which comes through the food, the cocktails and the snazzy jazzy vibes. You’ll find a gorgeous dining area, bar area and a fairy-lit open-air garden area. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the jazz on a Sunday, a mid-week cocktail (we have decided this is totally a thing) or a night out on the weekend.
The technique, effort, knowledge and love put into each individual cocktail is above and beyond – absolutely faultless. The team have designed a series of seasonal cocktails and ingredients unique to Clarences, along with New Orleans classics. Science lovers (enter both of us) would appreciate that some of these ingredients take many days to make and there are all sorts of reactions going on! We’ve practically been through the entire list (typical) but Science has us loving the ‘Gin-a-Colada’ and no they didn’t get their spirits mixed up, it is totally intentional and the homemade coconut-milk punch sends this one to home base. The ‘Cosmonaut’ was ready for lift off and one small step for cocktail lovers. Whilst the Blair ‘Waldorf and Watermelon’ of cocktails was utterly delicious (and everyone loves a bubble)!
What a great job the team have done in restoring this iconic venue on Beaufort Street. We would like to give a special mention to all the staff at Clarences because they made us feel so welcome, as well as being attentive, efficient, thoughtful and so very friendly. This definitely made our experience THAT much better. We did go mid-week when it was extremely quiet and the vibe was extremely chill, so if that’s what you’re after look no further (it does mean you don’t have to line up for drinks hehe). We can appreciate that weekends may be a little different, especially with jazz on Sundays, but it still gives off a very sit down and have a chat vibe.
It’s pretty darn clear that Clarences is helping to lead the Beaufort St renaissance!
