Fringe World is back in a big way, with over 400 shows running across January 20th to February 19th, the festival will showcase a diverse range of acts and artists from all over.
Perth will transform into a vibrant hub of art, culture and entertainment as Fringe World sweeps through the city and surrounding suburbs. Whether you’re looking to laugh, cry or laugh so hard that you start crying, Fringe World has a show for you.
Here are our top 5 recos of the shows you definitely have to tick off your list;
Hypnotist Matt Hale: Top Fun! 80’s Spectacular
This one is a festival favourite and it only takes a few minutes of watching the show to find out why. Matt Hale is fun, energetic and a magician of the mind. Combining the very best of the 80’s with his incredible abilities of the mind, Matt creates an experience like no other. Stand-up and get involved or sit back, sing a long and enjoy 60 minutes of stomach grabbing humour.
Club D’amour
Fun, flirty and full of debauchery, this sell-out show combines dance, burlesque, circus, and live music for a night you won’t forget. Transporting guests to a back-alley brothel, deep in the red light district of Paris, Club D’Amour explores a story of forbidden love while showcasing the sexiest Aussie talent. Think Moulin Rouge combined with 50 Shades of Grey and a dash of Rocky Horror, it’s not to be missed (by the adults, the children will definitely have to miss this one).
The Purple Rabbit
From the creator of Blanc de Blanc and LIMBO, The Purple Rabbit takes over the Rechabite for an evening of comedy, trickery and a whole lot of laughs. Featuring an ‘alcoholic Harry Potter’ and ‘The Unnamed Magician’, get ready for an evening of belly laughs and pure disbelief. The mischief, magic and mind-blowing mayhem makes for a five-star show.
Amy Hetherington: Juggle
Don’t be fooled by the title, there’s no juggling in this show, but there is a hell of a lot of laughs. WA born Amy Hetherington explores the constant juggle that is life and how sometimes you just have to scream f**k into the universe. Covering all things chaos, Amy talks finding yourself after having a baby, making cricket sexy and surviving life with a toddler. Strap in for 50 minutes of stand-up hilarity, you won’t be disappointed!
80s Mixtape Cabaret
Big hair, big frills and the best 80’s bangers. The Cabaret is fresh from the 80’s, bringing you a bolder and more bedazzled performance. With the return of everyone’s favourite British MC and comedian, Andrew Silverwood, Kaleido artists once again push the limits of the human physique.
These may be our top picks but we definitely recommend getting to as many shows as you can. Whether it’s date night, family night, drinks with the girls or beers with the boys, there’s something for everyone at Fringe World!
