Yes, you heard it right, mate – the world-famous and biggest carnival sambas its way back to Scarborough Beach for another carnival spectacle of vibrant colors, raucous vibe, lively music, and a beach party to remember. Experience the parade of Rio de Janeiro’s true taste right in the city as the community unites and embraces the third installation of the biggest festival to happen in town this April 10, Saturday.
Kicking off at 12 PM at the Scarboro and extending into the Ampitheatre ‘til 8 PM, the Carnaval will be shaking up the entire beach with authentic Brazilian food and drinks, music, and a fun showcase of Brazil and its arts and famous culture.
For this big day, WA Brazilian and Latino community join hands to meet, connect, and feast with an incredible selection of Brazilian, South, and Central American cuisine; tons of Food Trucks will be on standby to serve and deliver crowd favorites from Churras, Tapi Truck, Sampas Pastel, Rancho Latino, Latina WA, Rio40, and Con Pebre. To chill through the hot afternoon, the ever-sweet Braza Churros and everyone’s go-to Anntica Gelato are also a perfect delight while enjoying the interactive workshops and epic performances throughout the massive venue.
As this is a Mardi Gras-themed celebration, an elaborate headdress is a must, and at Live Lighter Tent, headdress decorating is free, so guests can skirt to Scarborough Beach Amphitheatre at 2 PM and join the grandest of the celebration while showing off some Mardi-Gras signature looks. There, live and musical performances will beat the heat with the best of SamOzzy live performances, samba dancers, and the Capoeira showcase. Participants at the Costume Competition will also be hyping the competitive spirit displaying their brightest and best to bring home the win.
And because it won’t be a complete package of Brazilian experience without the world-popular Caravan Parade, expect the street parade this year to step its way from Brighton Reserve and past the famous Scarborough Pool and La Capannina while dancing with the beat of the city’s biggest Brazilian drumming groups hitting some vibes and sounds to sweep Scarborough to a rhythm in sync. The street parade will pour out into the amphitheater for one final and majestic extravaganza led by Mestre Nunzio Toscano.
For athletes and sports-lovers, the beach and surrounding parklands will also be loaded with free sports and game activities for the entire community such as Soccer, Volleyball, Frescobol, and Slackline. These are all-inclusive and free for everyone to enjoy while families and friends gather on the beach nearby, grilling some traditional Brazilian BBQ, sipping refreshing drinks, and also trying some traditional beach games. In the background, the epic house DJs will be blaring the hottest Brazillian tunes.
